it's hard to believe that this used to be the library I frequented as a child. I love that the owners kept the original building intact and turned it into a thriving restaurant that is reasonably priced. this is the view from the balcony inside the restaurant. as you can see there are some pretty colored light reflections throughout this photo.

We were talking the other day about the Carnegie Library of our childhood -- it was replaced by a large impersonal modern building and I feel sorry for the little kids who don't learn to love books in that musty old place. I assume your library was replaced as well -- it would be worse not to have one at all.

Always sad to lose a library, but at least the building was saved instead of being replaced one of the blah buildings we see so frequently being built these days. Terrific reflections though! Hope you have a great weekend, Lily!

don't worry everyone, I should have added, they replaced this public library with one about ten times its size that is amazing! It's a real hub of activity in our community. It is currently being renovated, & it's actually hard to imagine it getting any better so I am psyched.

Louis, I agree about the screens too. I'm not a big fan of TV's in restaurants either.
So glad this building was preserved! But I'm with Louis—they should have preserved the "Shhhh" signs and skipped the annoying TVs.

There's a lot of interesting lighting going on in this photo, inside and outside. I'm on the same page with those who mentioned the TV screens... I've always wondered who started that obnoxious trend of placing screens in restaurants (and for a long time I thought it was only me who felt that way).
They can take out the books, but they can't remove the spirits from a library. That must be a wonderful place to sit and refresh yourself. That's on the list of places I must visit.
I'm on the same page with several other comments here - love the boat but the TVs would have to go. Who would want to stare at a big screen anyway, when there are such gorgeous windows available!!!
Cool shot! I love old libraries and cafes too so this looks like my kind of place.
